Why a pre-charged air conditioner still needs proper commissioning
An outdoor unit supplied with refrigerant is not ready to run as soon as the pipes are connected. The installed pipework must be checked, evacuated and commissioned correctly.

Pre-charged does not mean ready to start
The refrigerant is normally held in the outdoor unit. Before commissioning, the copper lines and indoor unit still contain air and moisture. Releasing the charge without proper preparation can affect performance and shorten the life of the equipment.
Checks before opening the valves
The installer checks the pipe route and insulation, connections, condensate drainage and electrical supply. Depending on the installation and manufacturer’s instructions, leak-tightness is tested before evacuation.
Evacuation and start-up
Evacuation removes air and moisture from the installed circuit. Once the vacuum has been checked for stability, the service valves can be opened and the system started. Temperatures, pressures or other relevant readings are then checked for the specific equipment.
