Understanding a French electrical diagnostic before buying a property
The French electrical diagnostic identifies visible risks in installations more than fifteen years old. It is not a quotation and does not automatically mean that every circuit must be replaced; the useful task is to understand each defect and its priority.

What the report checks
The inspection covers areas such as the main isolating device, overload and residual-current protection, earthing, bathroom safety zones and equipment that could expose occupants to live parts.
Concealed, inaccessible or unpowered parts may not be inspected. A technical visit is therefore valuable before relying on any renovation budget.
Issues that deserve priority
Missing 30 mA residual-current protection, earthing faults, accessible live conductors, unsuitable circuit protection and bathroom defects require particular attention. Other observations may be suitable for planned improvement rather than immediate replacement.
Does the property need a complete rewire?
Not necessarily. The answer depends on the age and condition of the circuits, protective conductors, access to existing conduits and the wider renovation plans. Targeted safety work may be practical in some properties; in others, a broader renovation is the more sensible solution.
Getting useful guidance before purchase
Send the complete report, photographs of the consumer unit and a short description of your plans. Reactive Resource offers a free initial explanation in English. A site visit and separate quotation can then be arranged if work is being considered within our service area.
