Museum-grade LED lighting for a private art collection

A precise, dimmable track-lighting installation in an old house, with re-engineered two-way switching and full electrical verification.

THE BRIEF

Light the art properly while respecting the character of the house.

Reactive Resource designed and installed adjustable, museum-grade LED projectors for a private collection. The existing single switches were replaced with dimmers, and the electrical layout was re-engineered to provide two-way control. Laser setting-out kept the track lines parallel, while final testing verified the new connections and controls before handover.

Existing installation review

The existing supply points, controls and display areas were reviewed before the new lighting layout was defined.

Precision laser layout

A line laser was used to set out parallel track runs accurately while working with the geometry of the old house.

Existing control analysis

Conductors were identified at the existing switches to prepare the dimmer upgrade and revised control arrangement.

Two-way switching rework

The wiring was re-engineered so the lighting could be controlled from two positions, with the connections remade neatly.

Dimmer upgrade

The original single switches were replaced with LED-compatible dimmers so the light level can be tailored precisely to the artwork.

Electrical testing and verification

A multifunction tester was used to verify connections, continuity and operation before the installation was returned to service.

Track and projector installation

The tracks and adjustable LED projectors were installed and positioned to illuminate the artworks precisely.

Projector aiming

Each projector was aimed individually to provide focused, dimmable lighting that can adapt as the collection changes.
